Revlon Spa Illuminate Skin Renewal System review

Posted by EbonyYoungin at 5:46 PM 0 comments
Hey you all!

It's been awhile since I've had the inspiration to blog about anything. Since graduating this passed May, I have just been really relaxing at home. So I got the inspiration to write this blog about this awesome new product by Revlon. I have to say I am absolutely in love!! This brush comes with four different brush head to tackle a different need for your skin.

The first brush head I will cover is my favorite. The blemish extractor. This brush head literally just sucks the blemishes out of your face. Each time I used it on a pimple or a black head on my skin, I immediately saw a reduction in size on my pimple, and the blackhead was gone.

The second brush head I like a lot will have to be their exfoliating brush. The bristles are soft enough not to irritate my sensitive skin, but I still felt like my skin was smoother due to a good amount of exfoliation. You can operate between two speeds, but those with sensitive skin like my own, will like the low speed just fine.

The next brush head I will discuss is there sponge. The sponge is meant to cleanse the skin very gently, but you have to remove excess make up like directed for it to be very effective. It is extremely gentle and it does cleanse well while you used as directed.

The last brush head there is the coolest one I think is their massage attachment. You are directed to use to help massage lotions and serum in your skin more effectively than your hands. I was not quite sure how effective it was, but it sure felt nice to have the balls massage my face. I appreciated the experience more than anything.

Overall, I definitely would recommend the Revlon system. Especially if you are not sure if you can afford the Clarisonic which retails at least $119. The Revlon system is only $20! It does what it says it will do and it is extremely effective. As of right now, you can find this system at Ulta!

My Clarisonic Experience (review)

Posted by EbonyYoungin at 7:14 PM 0 comments
Hey Everyone!

I recently purchased the Clarisonic about a month ago. I can tell you from Day 1, there was no 'wow factor out the box.' I hoped for fireworks in the window and over the next week regarding my skin. I wanted to have the glow that everyone has spoken of. I looked and researched for days regarding how soon would I see results. Every review (including the company claims) stated they saw results from the first use. I guess I am just one of those people the Clarisonic did nothing for. I mean in regard to a better clean, I definitely give it to the Clarisonic. It allows me to remove my make up easier and quicker, but that is the most I will give the Clarisonic. I did not see any further results of my skincare products penetrating easier. I presume because I have always been able to get my skin clean enough for penetration.  My skin texture remained the same and I didn't see an improvement in pore size anything else for the matter. Occasionally, after using it I will notice that my complexion looks 'fresher' but it just is not what I was expecting. I just feel as if the amount of the money this product retails, I would want more for it. Fortunately, I paid about half the retail price of the Clarisonic since I work for Macy's so it was not a total loss. I will not be returning the product since my husband has stated he really likes the products (which a shocker since he resisted me buying it in the first place). So I will continue to use it, seeing as it has made cleaning my face an easier task, but I am just not down for the hype. Once this Clarisonic breaks down in a few years, I will not repurchase. I purchased the Lavender Clarisonic Mia System. Also reading this article here, at Beauty Brains only strengthen the idea that this an over hyped product.

Tried & True Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

Posted by EbonyYoungin at 10:51 AM 2 comments
Good Morning!

So I really wanted to share with you my go to product when I skin is being a MESS. For the past two weeks, I have been lacking on my skin regimen. I have stated before that Retinol has the solid foundation for my skin care...especially when it comes to keeping my acne breakouts at bay. So with the past week or so I have been busy taking care of things in my life, I have not been as diligent about applying my Retinol products and my skin began breaking out like I was a 15-year-old. For a couple of days, it did not bother me, but as it progressed into something worse I knew I had to take charge. My Mint Julep Masque is my 'Emergency Plan B'. Whenever my skin is breaking out horribly, I apply an ample amount of this product to my face then allow it to dry for about maybe an hour. At the end of the hour all my pimps have dried up and I am no longer experiencing any break outs. I allow about a day or two for the pimples on my face to go completely away, but my skin is like night and day with this product. Immediately afterwards, I go back to my strict regimen and it's easy-peasy. Please do not SLEEP on this product. It is heaven-sent for acne-prone gals like me and most importantly its CHEAP ($3-5 USD) and they are pretty much accessible anywhere. You can find them at almost any beauty supply store and occasional drugstore (Walgreens, CVS, drugstore.com) and maybe even in Wal-Mart depending on the local demographics. If you still cannot find it, check out this Queen Helene's website here. Let me know your thoughts!

OOTD: Kim Kardashian Inspired Outfit

Posted by EbonyYoungin at 2:12 PM 2 comments

Hey Fashion Geeks!

I was recently inspired by Kim Kardashian recent outfit in Toronto. I absolutely love how conservative and sexy the outfit was. It streamlined her figure perfectly and was a perfect touch of femininity. I went for darker color but you can see where I drew my inspiration.

Estee Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer

Matte Perfecting Primer

Company Claims:

Benefits: Oil and shine control. For a smooth, even finish

Product Details: Prime for perfection. Discover the power of a primer with this targeted formula that controls oil and reduces shine so makeup looks smooth, even, flawless. Soft-vision optics minimize the look of pores and flaws to create an even canvas. Skin-calming Green Tea and Vitamin E rebalance and perfect. Oil-free. Ideal for Normal/Combination and Oily Skin.

My Opinion: I love it. When I say this primer provides a matte finish it provides some of the best matte finishes I've seen. I think a matte face is one of the most beautiful finishes in make up. I absolutely love it. I love how it provides such a smooth canvas and even on a hot or humid day, my face doesn't become oily at all. The downside to this primer, is longevity. That is one reason I purchase a primer and this is where the primer is lacking. I only use this primer if I am not going to be out a long time since otherwise my make up fades. The company doesn't promise your make up to last longer just to look smoother, but hey cannot a girl have it all? 3.5/5
